Alexander Torres

Years served: 21

County of Conviction

Los Angeles

Convicted of

Second Degree Murder

Sentence

50 Years to Life

Released

October 19. 2021

Alex Torres was suspected of killing the victim in his case because he had a prior altercation with the victim believing he had vandalized Alex’s mother’s car.  The California Innocence Project worked with investigators from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU) and located the true perpetrators. By joint motion of the California Innocence Project and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office Alex’s conviction was reversed and dismissed, and he was declared factually innocent after he spent 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.  For more information about Alex’s case go to:
