Jason Puracal was wrongfully incarcerated for two years in Nicaragua based on fabricated charges of drug dealing and money laundering.  Jason was an American real estate agent who stayed in Nicaragua after his time with the Peace Corp ended.  He refused to pay a bribe to the police, which resulted in his arrest and the charges.   He was convicted, even though no evidence of drugs nor money laundering was presented, and he was sentenced to 22 years in prison. After a massive campaign in both the United States and Nicaragua, an appellate court reversed his conviction and he returned to the United States.  For more information about Jason’s case go to:
